My love of art goes back to my earliest memories in grade school. I would watch my best friend James, who was all of six years old, draw great pictures with a pencil and paper and I would wonder how I could make pictures like he did. And I’ve been making pictures ever since. Most of my adult life has been spent in commercial art. I sold my first illustration at 19 years old. It was a pen and ink drawing done for a startup digital clip art company. They were way ahead of their time. Most people didn’t even own a computer yet. Since then I’ve worked in almost every type of graphics job there is. From airbrush illustration to sign making to digital illustration, some graphic design, photography and about 14 years in photo retouching. If it required color and drawing then I wanted to try it. Over the last 25 years I’ve seen the Industry change a lot. High quality skills are less important and high volume production is paramount. During all of my time as a commercial artist I never lost my love of making pictures and I’ve never lost my love of art for the sake of beauty.
The pictures I've posted here on my website are done in various mediums but I work mostly in oils, digital paint and photography. I’m including photography because photography as an art is a lot more than just snapping the shutter. Lighting, composition, color and lots of preparation and post clean up work is required for the ideal shot. I’m also including a blog space to write down my thoughts on art. I hope you enjoy looking through my work and reading my reflections as an artist. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me. If you see original work that you might like to purchase you can write for price and availability.
